Digging In The Dirt

Jalapeno plant going in.

And before you say anything at all, I know it is not dirt, it is soil. But dirt just sounds better.  These are pics of the plants actually going in the boxes. I found that if you water the heck out of the bottom of the hole then place the plant in a sloppy mess of goop, the plant suffers little to no shock. Somehow it works. Out of all the things that we planted, not one of them wilted or went into shock. Not bad considering it is still hot, hot, hot here in September.
Watermelon will get a trellis to grow upwards.
So tiny, barely a set of true leaves.
Large tomato, cherry tomato, bush bean and mini bell peppers
Close up of the watermelons
Marigolds, sweet banana peppers, bush bean, tomato

Dad taught me well, bury the tomatoes deep!
